Essential Tips to Follow When Adjusting Your HDTV Aerial

By Thomas T. Cook

Obtain the best reception for your television by learning how to adjust your HDTV aerial. This post will help you on the different ways to do it.

Determine television station's antenna site. The first thing that you have to do is to give the community TV station a phone call. Then, ask them about the location of their transmission antennas.

The next thing that you have to do now is to reposition the external aerial. If your antenna is attached to your roof top, remove the U-bolts which keep the aerial attached to the mast. Then, point the aerial towards the spot of the TV station's broadcast antenna. Have someone keep track of your television inside the house while you create small modifications to your external aerial. Refrain from yelling to each other, but use a telephone to communicate, instead. Ask your helper to rescan for TV channels whenever you reposition the aerial outside. And finally, when you've acquired the channels you desired to have, tighten up back the mounting bolts to secure the aerial in that position.

Tweak the interior antenna ears. Lift the antenna ears as high as possible to the ceiling. And then, check your TV if the channels are getting an excellent reception. If not, keep on readjusting the aerial ears by directing them towards the window.

Take the aerial near the window. The TV station's broadcast transmission is strongest where there are no obstructions. So, try moving your TV set near the window where it could get a direct signal from the transmission mast. Whenever altering the position of the antennas, make sure that its cables are not kinked.

A different way for you to figure out which particular area in the room has the best TV reception is to take the antenna and move it across the room. While you're executing this, make sure to watch for the best reception from the television. Once you've determined the place for the perfect reception, transfer the television set to that specific area.

A higher area at home also gives a better television reception from, say, the basement or first floor. Thus, if your TV isn't getting excellent reception from the floor it is currently placed, transfer the TV set to an elevated floor.
