Case Study: How To Get Better Telephones

By Carl Eikleberry

While it may seem like mobile phones have been with us forever, it was actually just a few years ago when they were practically unknown and people only really used landlines and mail for communication. In those times, it was really hard to contact people using those outdated services.

Because of this, the demand for mobile phones was increasing, and finally cell phones were invented. At the same time as this, the older style landlines became more efficient, and people were now able to use them to conduct business a little easier. Whether you are on the go, or comfortable in your couch at home, you can use a cell phone nowadays to call from anywhere and do the business that you need to do whenever you need to do it. Still, it is important to realize that these advancements with mobile phone technology have only happened in the last few years.

In the early years of the human race, it did not take very long before they needed some way to communicate over long distances. At first, very simple methods were used like church bells and loud drums or music to signal certain events. Sometimes, people would even go to the extent of physically delivering messages, by running or riding horses. If you are a business person that communicates over long distance often, then you should be glad we live in a time when this kind of communication is so easy to do.

When the industrial era finally came about, instead of horses, people were able to use things like cars and railroads to deliver messages more quickly. Finally, long distance communication as we know it today was conceived in the 19th century, which for many people at the time seemed to be an unreal thing to have. Instead of delivering the messages themselves to the recipients, with the advent of the telegraph people could send the data over long distances without having to actually go there. Telegraphs and Morse code gave people the ability to communicate with each other with technology that seemed unreal at the time.

Soon thereafter came Alexander Graham Bell and the invention of the telephone, which was one of the most important inventions of the last few centuries. At the time, the telephone had a relatively low error rate, which made it very popular for people that needed to send important information over long distances. Eventually, this technology rose to the cell phone and internet services that we use today, and we have been spoiled with the ability to communicate with others so easily.
