Is Your Smartphone Security Smart?

Based on mobile computing platforms, smartphones are made with more advanced computing ability and connectivity. Smartphones can perform both the features of a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) and a mobile phone or a camera phone. But smartphone security issues are a big deal to be concerned about.

While in public connectivity zones try to avoid public Wi-Fi hot spots as these unsecure connection services can leave your activity open to eavesdropping and breaking into your Smartphone security. There are so many smartphone applications available now and most are free and low cost applications which catch your attention very quickly. Recently malware-laden application were discovered and removed. So be-aware of the application you are using.

If by any chance your stored data in your Smartphone is hampered or wiped out, how could you recover it when you need it? It is very simple that if the data inside the smartphone is stored as backup, it can be recovered any time. You can store the data in your personal computer or in online storage. You should keep your phone 'In Jail' mode as it circumvent the safe guard built inside the smartphone security operating system.

Your phone's hardware manufacturer will make new operating system updates available for your device offering new features and security related improvements. Therefore it is good to apply updates regularly. Malware vendors always notice your smartphone security, so it is a good idea to use anti-virus software there as well. But anti-viruses are absent for some devices. Do not respond to links sent in text messages especially if you do not use anti-virus. Surely you do not want unwanted software, spam and unexpected charges on your bill.

Use of anti-virus and smartphone security related software is very important. Malware sources always notice your smartphone. Also try to avoid public Wi-Fi hot spot zones as they provide unsecure connectivity and this can leave your data open to eavesdroppers and theft. There are many applications available free or at a very low cost which you may want to download to your smartphone. But recently malware-laden applications were discovered and removed as well so it is better to beware of the applications you are using.
