Deciding On The Right Mobile Phone: Nokia C2-01 Review

By John Conner

When the time comes to shop for a cell phone or mobile service provider, there is a myriad of choices available that may be overwhelming at times. Each device advertises different features and specifications such as screens, buttons, technology, and style. Once you're aware of what the options are, making a decision shouldn't be that difficult so long as you take some time to discover what you want in a phone. For those who wish nothing more than an easy to use, uncomplicated, inexpensive, but trustworthy device, the Nokia C2-01 should be one of the top choices.

This compact device is small enough to fit into your pocket, which is convenient when compared to large, bulky, phones which require a bag or purse. It relinquishes such smart-phone features as a touchscreen, Wi-Fi, and a video-call camera. It is an uncomplicated and straightforward handset device.

You can still take photos on the phone using the built-in 3.2 megapixel camera, as well as record videos, but the video quality is rather low when viewing it from a television or computer screen. It also requires a microSD card to be purchased separately in order to have enough space to store photos and videos, since the cellular device itself has limited storage space. Buying a card will give you up to 16 GB of extra space as needed.

Another interesting element added onto the phone is its 3G connectivity. This feature enables users to download apps for the phone from the "Ovi Store" it also boasts a Facebook application that is preloaded onto the device allowing you to update your status and receive reports from friends. Such liberty in data connectivity is rare to find in other equally inexpensive devices. Although not ideal for surfing the web due to its small screen, this handset still makes it convenient for you to download applications and check Facebook updates.

The buttons on the keypad are unexaggerated and easy to use. The material with which they are made gives the user an obvious feeling of simplicity since it is of rather poor quality.

The Nokia C2-01 comes with a port that can be used with the included wall charger, but also features a mini USB port so that you can not only transfer data from the device to the computer, but also use your computer to charge the device. A third port can be found which connects to a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

This mobile device is budget-friendly throughout and can be bought with a pay-as-you-go plan for a lower price than other devices. It is available under this plan by many mobile service providers, and is ideal for those don't want to enter into a contract.

The Nokia C2-01 is not to be compared with current smart-phones advertised by such companies as Samsung or LG, but in terms of getting a lot for your dollar, this phone should be seriously considered. When put alongside other simple handsets, it will not disappoint those who expect a quality phone with advanced technology.
